Soulful Intentions are an exciting duo giving you incredible sounds of Soul, Motown, Jazz and Reggae. With Janine’s eclectic vocal ability and Stephen’s musical versatility, Soulful Intentions promise to deliver a sultry and sophisticated performance.
Stephen is an experienced musician and producer from Birmingham. Raised in the church, he started to learn the piano/keyboard from the age of 13. He started classical training in school and picked up other instruments along the way such as bass, drums and guitar.
Stephen started producing music at the age of 18, influenced by the likes of Timbaland, Kevin Shek’spere, Darkchild and Jermaine Dupri. Completely self taught, he began to work with local artists and produced music for BBC Radio 4. Stephen has shared stages with the likes of KRS One, Misteeq, Lady Leshurr, and Wayne Marshall; as well as international Gospel artists like William McDowell and Kierra Sheard. He is now working on a lot of production work for music, TV and film; collaborating with local artists and companies.
Janine Bailey started her singing career in church at the tender age of 7 years old and later joined the choir, continuing to sing and mesmerise audiences. Much later, she developed her voice and style, growing to love soul and the blues from as far back as the 70s, admiring and singing the likes of Etta James, Nina Simone and even the more modern artists who ooze soul like Jill Sott and Erykah Badu.
Janine performed for several years in bands, duos, solo for festivals, weddings and bars predominantly performing to live music. Her favourite genres include soul, reggae, jazz and the blues.
